Take Profit

Take Profit is an optional position-management instruction that automatically closes an open position when the official FairTicks market price reaches the selected profit level. It helps you define an exit before or during a trade without changing the account’s risk rules.

FairTicks principle

Take Profit is an execution instruction, not a guarantee of profit. The position closes only when the official FairTicks price reaches the configured level and the close is processed by the trading engine.

Take Profit in one sentence

An optional automatic profit exit

You choose a profit distance before or after entry, and FairTicks closes the position automatically if the official price reaches that level.

How Take Profit is expressed

FairTicks expresses Take Profit using logical ticks. Logical ticks convert market movement into the FairTicks movement unit used by the position, DOM Ladder, and official PnL engine.

Example

Position direction: Long

Entry price: $100

Take Profit distance: 20 logical ticks

If the official FairTicks tick size for the market is $0.50, the Take Profit level is $110.

Account dashboard is the source of truth

The exact market price, logical tick size, displayed Take Profit level, and final close result shown in FairTicks are the official values.

Long and Short positions

Direction Take Profit location Trigger idea
Long Above the entry price The position closes when official price reaches or exceeds the Take Profit level.
Short Below the entry price The position closes when official price reaches or falls below the Take Profit level.

Setting Take Profit before opening

In the Open Position panel, Take Profit can be enabled before execution. You choose the desired logical-tick distance and FairTicks previews the resulting price level.

  1. Select a market and direction.
  2. Choose contracts manually or with a Preset.
  3. Enable Take Profit.
  4. Choose the logical-tick distance.
  5. Review the previewed Take Profit price.
  6. Open the position if all account validations pass.
Take Profit does not replace Stop Loss

Take Profit defines a profit exit. Stop Loss defines a risk boundary. One can be enabled without the other when the account rules allow it.

Adding Take Profit after opening

If a position is already open without Take Profit, you can add one from the Open Position panel or DOM Ladder. The requested level must be valid for the position direction and current market state.

Action Available? Important condition
Add Take Profit Yes The selected level must be on the profitable side of the current position.
Move Take Profit Yes The new level must remain valid for the position direction.
Remove Take Profit Yes The position remains open without an automatic profit exit.

Moving Take Profit in the DOM Ladder

The DOM Ladder shows the active Take Profit level as a dedicated marker. Depending on the device, you can move it by clicking or tapping a valid price row, or by dragging the marker on desktop.

  • Click or tap a valid row to place or move Take Profit.
  • Drag the Take Profit marker on desktop where supported.
  • Use auto-scroll when dragging near the upper or lower edge of the ladder.
  • Review the updated level after the backend confirms the change.
Backend confirmation matters

The visible marker is not final until the position update is accepted by FairTicks. If the update fails, the interface keeps or restores the last official value.

What happens when Take Profit triggers?

  1. The official FairTicks price reaches the Take Profit condition.
  2. The trading engine starts the close process.
  3. The position is settled using the official close price recorded by FairTicks.
  4. Opening and closing costs are included in the final account impact where applicable.
  5. The final realized PnL is added to position history.
  6. The position’s exposure and contracts are released after settlement.

Can the final result differ from the preview?

Yes. The preview helps you understand the intended exit, but the final realized result depends on the official execution state, market movement, spread, platform timing, logical tick calculation, and recorded costs.

Official result

The position history and account timeline are the official records for Take Profit execution and final PnL.

Take Profit and Reverse Trade

Reverse Trade closes the current position and attempts to open a new position in the opposite direction. Where the new position is valid, FairTicks can preserve the same Take Profit logical-tick distance for the reversed position.

Reverse is a new position

The new direction must pass account status, market data, exposure, contract, Stop Loss, and risk validations. The previous Take Profit does not guarantee that the inverse position will open.

Take Profit and account rules

Take Profit does not modify Daily Loss, Maximum Loss, Trailing Drawdown, Consistency, Minimum Trading Days, or Qualified Profit Days. It only controls a position exit.

Rule or metric Does Take Profit change it directly?
Daily Loss No. Realized and open PnL still affect live equity normally.
Maximum Loss No. The current floor remains active.
Trailing Drawdown No. Highest live equity and the active floor remain authoritative.
Training Consistency No. A profitable close still contributes to the best-day ratio.
Qualified Profit Days No. The end-of-day QPD conditions still apply.

Common mistakes to avoid

Mistake Correct understanding
Thinking Take Profit guarantees the displayed amount The final result is the official realized result recorded by FairTicks.
Using Take Profit instead of Stop Loss Take Profit manages upside; Stop Loss manages downside.
Assuming the marker moved before backend confirmation Wait for the official position update to be accepted.
Placing Take Profit on the wrong side of entry Long Take Profit must be above; Short Take Profit must be below.
Ignoring commissions Final net PnL can be lower than gross movement profit.

Common questions

Is Take Profit required?

No. Take Profit is optional.

Can I add Take Profit after opening?

Yes, if the selected level is valid for the current position.

Can I move Take Profit while the position is open?

Yes. The new level becomes official after FairTicks accepts the update.

Can I remove Take Profit?

Yes. Removing it leaves the position open without an automatic profit exit.

Does Take Profit use market price or logical ticks?

You configure the distance in logical ticks, and FairTicks translates that distance into the official market price level.

Can Take Profit close during fast movement?

Yes. The official close is processed by the FairTicks engine when the trigger condition is reached.

Where can I verify the result?

Use position history, account balance, account timeline, and official FairTicks PnL.

Summary

Take Profit is an optional logical-tick exit that can be added before or after entry, moved, or removed. When triggered, FairTicks closes the position using the official execution state and records the final realized result.

In one sentence

Take Profit helps automate a profitable exit, but the official FairTicks execution and recorded PnL remain the source of truth.

Key takeaway

Take Profit is flexible, but the official execution is final.

Set it before entry, add it later, move it in the DOM, or remove it. Always verify the confirmed level and final result in FairTicks.
